Artistic Vision

I begin my paintings with an idea, an impulse to paint. My subject is

what I see, remember or imagine. I draw big fluid lines and simple

shapes, looking for rhythm and feeling. I build the painting by layering

color after color. My goal is to go deep, beyond the surface to find the

joy and beauty of life. Then, I like to add a line, drip, dot or splash

to remind myself it's a painting: a simple statement about wonder.
